Dr Paul Williams - Representing all of the people of Stockton South

Since the election I’ve settled in to life in Parliament and been working, amongst other things, on reducing Autism diagnosis times, saving 900 jobs in HMRC offices on Teesside and overturning the public sector pay cap.

I was also asked to join the Health Select Committee, which has the task of scrutinising the policies and administration of the department of health as well as associated bodies. This in essential as we face challenges to our NHS and we have so many that rely on good health and social services.

In Stockton South, there are currently 18 people on transplant waiting lists but there have only been 9 deceased donors in the last 9 years. That is why I have backed the proposal for an “opt-out” system for organ donation in England.

I have spoken up for women and called for the Government to act to end Period Poverty, as well as asking questions of this government on the unfair changes to women’s State Pension Age  but Ministers appear unwilling to listen and compromise on this issue

I’ll continue to work in Parliament, representing constituents and fighting for progressive ideas which will represent those voices that are less heard.
